Release Party at the Muddy Pig

Join us to celebrate the official launch of Fytenburg Grand Cru, affectionately known as “The Wedding Beer,” and Fytenburg Grand Cru Blanc!

To kick off the celebration, Father Dan Haugan of the Church of the Holy Spirit will bless the brews. After the blessing, chat with brewer and owner, Tod, and enjoy all that the Muddy Pig offers with some “Wedding Beer” on the side.

The “Wedding Beer,” St. Paul’s Original Belgian Style Beer, is a smooth, Belgian Abbey Ale, first brewed nearly 24 years ago for the wedding of Tod & his wife, Madeline. Fytenburg Grand Cru Blanc was first brewed in 1994 to celebrate his fifth wedding anniversary.

MN Excise Tax up for Vote in the Senate

A new excise tax is up for vote in the MN House discussing an increase in the state alcohol excise tax by 600%. The current excise tax at $4.73 would increase to $27.98 if the bill passed.

Proponents state that the excise tax would only cost consumers $0.07 a drink at the bar, but what they do not acknowledge is how it will hurt the small craft brewers in the state.

Over the past few weeks, we have been lobbying at the capitol to show the legislators the harmful effects this new bill will cause. At this point, we need individuals to call the governor, Mark Dayton and relay the importance of keeping this excise tax out of MN.
